Over 40,000 lives improved across South East Asia through IHG’s community partnerships 


After many years of supporting communities across  South East Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts has revealed its inaugural South East Asia  Communities Report, to rejoice the partnerships it has solid to assist enhance hundreds of  lives across the area. 

It’s not simply concerning the numbers. The report shines a lightweight on among the transformational  actions delivered in native communities, and the inspiring tales of the companions concerned. By  sharing these tales, IHG hopes to have an effect on even larger change this 12 months and past. 

In Malaysia, a unbelievable instance is a partnership solid with SURI – a Malaysian social  enterprise devoted to empowering single and underprivileged moms by offering the ability of stitching, to offer them a supply of revenue. Founded by a mother-son duo in 2016, SURI’s  aim is to assist every underprivileged mom scale back dependance on authorities help through  fulltime work and supply alternatives for expertise coaching. 

Since 2022, SURI and IHG have labored collectively to develop a sustainable gifting programme  that produces top quality items from discarded and recycled lodge linen, together with in-room  facilities, company items, and festive hampers. Last 12 months alone, over 400 kilograms of lodge  mattress linen from InterContinental Kuala Lumpur had been upcycled into items.  

The success of the partnership has enabled SURI to scale up its operations and broaden to  Langkawi, supporting an extra 100 moms there.
